The B.J. Thompson law firm offers on-line personal transaction documents for the client who can benefit from reduced transaction cost because the client does not have to go to the lawyer’s office to describe a problem and receive legal service. The on-line document service is designed for the client who might forego legal advice for a small or routine matter rather than go to the expense of finding a lawyer, making an appointment, and going to the lawyer’s office.
The typical client leads a busy life, and can’t take scarce vacation time from work or family time to go down to the lawyer’s office. The typical client knows he or she needs a will, but hasn’t gotten around to it yet. He or she has a carpooling arrangement with neighbors for their kids’ transportation to and from school, but has no provision for the driver to easily obtain medical care in the event of an accident. He or she may have rental property, but doesn’t have a written lease for the tenant to sign. Besides, they don’t know who to call, and they don’t know how much a lawyer will cost. Other typical clients are accustomed to obtaining legal services and simply prefer the convenience and cost effectiveness of this service for routine matters.
If you fit these client profiles, are willing to receive legal services electronically, and are willing to confer with the attorney over the phone, this service can be useful to you. Costs are agreed before work begins. Payment is by credit card. One-half is charged when work begins, and the remaining one-half is charged at the time the first draft is furnished to you for review. Consultations and revisions are included in the cost of the document. The price indicated assumes that you do not require many unusual provisions or restrictions. Clients are informed if additional work is required, and additional work is performed only as authorized by the client. Documents are prepared according to Texas Law for use in Texas only.
